Armenia: An interview with Liana Aghajanian

Born in Iran, but raised and now living in the United States, Liana Aghajanian is a writer and a relative newcomer to the Armenian blogosphere. Although blogging on her own personal site, Aghajanian has set an important precedent for alternative voices and an independent media in Armenia and the Diaspora with her Wordpress-based e-zine, Ianyan.

Hello and welcome to ianyan magazine, your premiere independent Armenian publication. Ianyan first started as an idea that lay dormant in our minds for a number of years. Like all good things however, the idea finally came to fruition. We here at ianyan aim to bring you what so many Armenian publications have failed to do: objective news, features and storytelling that you can appreciate. This is not your medzbaba’s newspaper. There is no propaganda here. We not only seek the truth and report it, we bring you Armenian news from around the world, for both young and old generations and for your non-Armenian friends as well.
