HEAR MY VOICE!
My fellow Armenians – your government is misleading you and all that you are hearing is lies. If any of you thinks that Karabakh and what is going on today in Georgia are similar conflicts – yes they are but not the way that you have been explained – pick up a history book and see it for yourself – yes as usual Soviet’s or in Putin’s case driven by “nostalgia for Soviet’s” are dividing our lands. Look up in history books Samachblo and Abkhazetyi are Georgian historic lands, like Karabakh is ours. How can you be so blind and not see that Georgia is rightfully wants its country united, and Russians want Caucasians week, divided and conquered.
HEAR MY VOICE!
It is only ONE in billions but it is ONE voice of a mother with two children that is speaking out to ALL Armenians everywhere in the world!!!!
Please HEAR ME when I say that
•	around the same time when Putin made a decision to inject abhorrence into veins of Russian youth towards all “faces of Caucasian nationals” and support “skin head movement” - by not bringing them to justice for murders of many Caucasians in Russia in resent past…
•	around the same time when Putin decided to take over and control privet companies that were successful in Russia – ordering incarceration of “intellects” that helped Russia build its wealth
•	around the same time when Putin decided that he will stay in power – by placing a puppet in Kremlin and continuing to control Russia.
Around the same time we should all have known that soviet are is returning and more then any other nation, Armenians have lost their independence.
HEAR MY VOICE when I shout out that Putin never intended to do fair business with any country.
Putin’s path to “Russian Power” is simple: collect bargaining chips and then take the “bull by the horns”. He will Blackmail his way to an empire that would TIP THE BALANCE OF MIGHT EASTWARDS.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE! YOU CAN STOP HIM!
A SINGLE VOICE SHOULD MATTER – SO HEAR WHEN I SAY

Europe, the World and Armenia must WAKE UP!
By giving Putinist Russia more power Europe is volunteering in digging its own necropolis.
Putin is hard line KGB agent with superiority complex and he will not stop until world recognizes him as MOST POWERFUL LEADER OF ALL TIMES…
You might think MY VOICE IS JUST ONE VOICE but hear what I say
Remove the shroud placed by Russians over the world – how can everyone not see this cruel “emasculation” act put up by Putin. I am of Armenian heritage – it is known that we, Caucasian nations are hated by Russians. It is painful to find out that any Armenian can agree or not stand up against kind of aggression and discrimination that Russians are demonstrating in Georgia.
“Scorched earth” or “clean earth” both are xenophobic terms…and – this is what Russia has named this operation in Georgia. How can any one have a doubt in their mind that this was planned and put into action and Georgians were just an unfortunate bystander?
MY VOICE IS ONLY ONE VOICE – but trust me when I say that it is the VOICE OF MANY MOTHERS world wide and it is the VOICE OF RUSSIAN MOTHERS!
Hear me when I say – MY PEOPLE, MY ARMENIANS support your brother nation – no one can understand Georgians more then we can. We have shared identical fate with them – do not let Putin bully us into doing what we believe is wrong. Stand by our brother nation that has shared their home with us for centuries. Be ashamed of “Bagramian battalion” – this Russian paid and supported thugs that would and have killed an Armenian just as easily as a Georgian. Do not let them DIVIDE AND CONCUR OUR SMALL BUT BROTHERLY NATIONS.
HEAR MY VOICE when I say to you - do not report what you have no proof of. How can you say that Georgians have lost a war? A simple truth is: Much like any other responsible government, within few hours of military action (that looked very aggressive – but if any one had followed news for several weeks prior to that would have clearly seen that population from conflict region of Samachablo or as renamed to S. Ossetia - was being evacuated to Russia..) Georgia brought down a group of Russian backed thugs. By Retreating their troops and letting well prepared Russian troops freely march in to their free country - TO ACCOMMODATE “WORLD ORDER” does not make them “losers” – as some of you have described Georgians, Europe and USA.
THE ONLY LOSERS IN THIS “GAME” WILL BE ONCE WHO CAN NOT SEE PUTIN’S PLAN FOR WHAT IT IS! Xenophobic detestation towards Georgians and their free spirit, clean or scorch Georgian soil from Georgians – just because they dared to stand up to him.
Hear me when I say – WORLD - stand up to Putin
No matter where you stand in your relations with USA – put aside all your differences and stand by people of USA IN support for Georgia.
HELP VICTORIOUS NATION, GEORGIANS - OVERCOME PUTIN’S AMBITIONS.
RUSSIA IS NOT YOUR ALLY
STOP THIS MADNESS – STOP THESE CRIMINALS – STOP THESE THUGS – STOP THIS LOOTING – STOP THESE PROVOCATIONS – STOP PUTIN – STOP RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarkisian To Meet Russia’s Medvedev

President Serzh Sarkisian will meet his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev early next week for talks that will apparently focus on Russia’s bitter conflict with Georgia.

Sarkisian’s office said on Friday the meeting will take place in the Russian Black Sea port of Sochi next Tuesday. It said the two presidents will discuss “further development of the Russian-Armenian strategic partnership” and “regional and international issues.”

[...]

Medvedev and Sarkisian already discussed the crisis over Georgia in a phone conversation on August 13, one week after the outbreak of fighting in South Ossetia that escalated into an all-out Russian-Georgian war. The Armenian presidential press service said afterwards that they “agreed to hold, if need be, additional consultations on further developments” in the conflict zone.

Armenia has avoided openly taking sides in the dispute, mindful of Georgia’s vital significance for its transport communication with the outside world and its dependence on Russia for defense and energy resources.

Still, Sarkisian did signal last week his disapproval of Tbilisi’s disastrous attempt to restore Georgian control over South Ossetia by force. And while declining to support Russia’s decision to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states, official Yerevan has made clear it that it believes the status of the two breakaway territories should be determined by their pro-Russian populations.

Armenian Premier Downplays Impact Of Georgia War

By Shakeh Avoyan

Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian on Thursday insisted that the economic impact on Armenia of the war in neighboring Georgia has been minimal and strongly criticized opposition leaders and media for claiming the opposite.

“It’s been three weeks since the start of real hostilities in Georgia, a neighboring state through which we carry out 70 percent of our [foreign trade] turnover,” Sarkisian said, opening a weekly meeting of his cabinet. “Let us accept one fact. Has our society felt any upheavals, have the day-to-day lives of our citizens been disrupted in the past three weeks?

“Of course not. We, together with you, have managed to maintain stability primarily because of the public’s support.”

“Hraparak” accuses the government of not doing enough to restore key supplies to Armenia that were disrupted by the Russian-Georgian conflict. The paper is also unhappy that Yerevan continues to “flirt” with Moscow despite Georgia’s vital importance for Armenia’s foreign trade.

“168 Zham” says Armenia’s fuel crisis is “deepening” contrary to government assurances that there is no shortage of petrol in the country. The paper points to long lines forming outside gasoline stations in Yerevan and reported black market trading in gasoline. It says the amount of petrol imported in recent days is not enough to meet domestic demand and warns that similar shortages could also emerge in the domestic bread market.

“The petrol crisis has proved the assertion that most of the fuel imported to Armenia, about 60 percent, is in the shadow sector, not registered at the border and, naturally, not taxed,” says “Haykakan Zhamanak.”

Karabakh Armenians Hail Russian Recognition Of Abkhazia, South Ossetia

By Emil Danielyan

In a move contrasting with official Yerevan’s silence, the ethnic Armenian leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh has welcomed Russia’s controversial decision to recognize Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s de facto independence from Georgia.

Bako Sahakian, the president of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), sent on Thursday congratulatory messages to his Abkhaz and South Ossetian counterparts.

“It is with sincere joy that the people of Artsakh (Karabakh) received this news long awaited by your people,” Sahakian wrote to Abkhazia’s President Sergei Bagapsh. “Abkhazia has achieved something which it has sought for many years, having deservedly overcome numerous obstacles.”

The Karabakh leader extended similar congratulations to “the brotherly people of South Ossetia” and their leader, Eduard Kokoyty. “May peace take a permanent hold in your country,” read Sahakian’s letter to Kokoyty made public by his press office.

[...]

Unlike the NKR leadership, Armenia’s government has so fair declined to explicitly comment on the Russian support for Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s secession from Georgia. The Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a short statement Wednesday reaffirming Yerevan’s stated support for a peaceful settlement of the regional ethnic disputes.

But in what could be construed as an indirect endorsement of the Russian recognition, the statement said the conflicts in Karabakh and elsewhere in the South Caucasus should be resolved “on the basis of a free expression of peoples’ will.” President Serzh Sarkisian likewise said last week that “the military way of conflict resolution is futile.”

Despite its close ties with Russia, Armenia is extremely unlikely to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states, mindful of negative international reaction and Georgia’s vital importance for its transport communication with the outside world.

A leader of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun), one of the four parties represented in Armenia’s government, said in a newspaper interview published on Thursday that the Sarkisian administration should not rush to follow Moscow’s example because “having normal relations with Georgia stems from our country’s vital interests.”

“Armenia has not even recognized Karabakh’s independence because it believes the international community has not exhausted its capacity to solve the problem peacefully,” Armen Rustamian told the “Hayastani Hanrapetutyun” daily. “We think that the possibilities of a peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict have not been exhausted either.”

I guess you do not need a third confirmation regarding Google Maps. But here are some interesting things that I managed to find. Armenia, as well as Georgia and Azerbaijan are not supported by Google Maps yet, according to Google Maps Help Center. People are talking about it in Google Groups and Google Maps posted it about on their blog, which made it even to the official Google blog.

Predicament just got tighter with this news (and I was actually hoping Belarus had started thinking more critically about its Slavic-brotherhood bonding...):

Belarus Hails Russia’s Recognition of S.Ossetia, Abkhazia

Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, has said that “in the existing situation, Russia had no other moral option, other than to support the appeals by the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia requesting recognition of their right to self-determination in accordance with international documents.” In a statement posted on the Belarusian president’s website, Lukashenko proposed raising the issue at a session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) – uniting Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – which is scheduled for September 5. He also called for “a unified [CSTO] position” on the issue.

The weekend of September 5th is sure going to be a busy one in Armenia (!)

Oh, in a strange way what a pity... It was kind of a great story if true. ;-)

Well, I suppose I can breathe a sigh of relief. :-)

Re Google maps, it's always been that way, it's nothing new. I confirm that because when I've gone to Google and typed in "Armenia" for at least the year that I've done that, a blank map comes up. They just never "got around" to putting in the roads. So it's nothing sinister, just the usual neglect of the Caucasus.

As someone who looked up Armenia frequently on Google Maps (the only one, hence this confusion), I can assure you the infrastructure was never there. I was always frusterated by the lack of roads. The only thing that might or might not have changed is the location of capital cities. Nothing else was ever there.
