[...] Blockaded by Azerbaijan and Turkey because of the unresolved conflict with the former over Nagorno Karabakh, another frozen conflict in the region, fuel shortages are already hitting drivers and it remains to be seen whether any other commodities imported into the landlocked country will also be affected. Yet, despite the precarious nature of Armenia’s geopolitical position and its need to maintain a complimentary policy without alienating the West, Russia or even Georgia, some greeted Moscow’s actions with enthusiasm.
I have always said that Russia fucks both Armenia and Georgia. But Armenians let Russians to fuck them voluntarily, so they like to call it lovemaking. In case of Georgians it is rape.

Simon, the statement that Armenians like Azerbaijanis more than Georgians is one that's very common to hear here. Moreover, many side with Russia in any attempt to destroy Georgia to the north. Besides, this account is of what I consider to be astonishing racism and a delight in war.

I dislike war full stop and while I can say that I disapprove of what Russia is now doing, I can also say that I disapprove of what Georgia did which escalated this conflict. Ultimately, however, there are no rights and wrongs in this conflict.

It simply has to stop. All sides must back down, not target civilians, and while I do think Saakashvili went over the top by attacking South Ossetia, the Russians shouldn't be taking this war further. Unfortunately, however, Armenian nationalists do.

Meanwhile, there are rumors of someone trying to stir up armed resistance to Georgians in mainly Armenian-populated Samtskhe-Javakheti. If true, that is likely Russia and it does not bode well for all of us. As for South Ossetia, I think it has more to do with support for Russia than anything else.

To be honest, I don't think most people -- and certainly those who display such an attitude -- know ANYTHING about South Ossetia. Indeed, none even mention them. Just that they want Russia to "fuck Georgia." Sad.

It is intensely worrying a situation for Armenia. Let us firstly not forget that Georgia is Armenia's outlet to the world. Secondly just because Armenia isn't on Russia's bad side doesn't mean it won't be in its best interest to be so in the future. Having a megalomaniacal country so close by set on keeping myriad countries in the region under its control is not reassuring. Georgia today, it could be you tomorrow. That said I'm not 100% pro-west on this issue as they are just as bad, Georgia stirred Russia's anger by being so unabashedly pro-west in what it sees as its own neighborhood and thought it was invincible thanks to US support. Maybe it seemed that way in 2003 but five years later with the Iraq war's toll the US is in no place to prop up Georgia against Russia and it is now reaping what it's cockiness sewed. There are many losers and no winners in this conflict, well except possibly Russia which while it is acting like a loser (in the kindergarten taunt sense) will certainly be the long-term winner in this. It was waiting a long time for this moment and now that it has its jaws around Georgia it won't let it go until it gets the maximum out of it that it wants. The west is powerless to stop it.

Onnik, I find this post a gross generalization. Many Armenians resonate with South Ossetians because of Nagorno Karabakh. Unfortunately, this post seems to cater the State Department-driven western media that has forgotten the South Ossetian people in this conflict and has made Russia the only boogy man.
