Georgia: Evacuations?
With the conflict between Georgia and Russia over South Ossetia intensifying, there appears to be some confusion over the possible evacuation of foreign citizens in the country. Wu Wei reports that at least one USAID team is being evacuated.
Just heard from the Bosnian that her (USAID) team are evacuating. Mobile networks are not working. Nothing directly the British Embassy, but a woffly post on the website and the mobile telephone number of the Duty Officer which is of course not working.
For now, Wu Wei says that the U.K and Greece have no plans to evacuate their citizens and one American friend in Tbilisi says that the U.S. Embassy has not contacted him… yet.
we have not heard anything like that here and i have not been contacted by the embassy as an american and no other americans i know here have been
Meanwhile, Unzipped reports that 150 Armenian citizens are being evacuated with Georgian police escort from the resort towns of Batumi and Kobuleti.
