Voices Without Votes

With the U.S. Presidential Election just three months away it seems timely to draw the attention of readers towards Voices Without Votes, a Global Voices project commissioned by Reuters. Actually, I should be writing up some entries for the project from the South Caucasus or related communities abroad so if you know any interesting posts related to the 4 November election from an Armenian, Azerbaijani or Georgian perspective, please post links in the comments section of this entry.

Americans are the only ones who can elect the United States president, but the 2008 election offers a unique opportunity to harvest global commentary on America’s politics and foreign policy and how it affects the rest of the world.

[…]

Our goals are:

• To monitor global citizen media responses to US foreign and presidential politics in the run up to the elections.

• To illuminate the effect of US foreign policy abroad and provide a lively and interactive news experience.

• To enable readers to experience American events through the eyes of ordinary citizens from outside the United States.

Speaking on behalf of Global Voices Online, I’d encourage Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian bloggers to participate by having their voices heard as the world’s most powerful nation gets ready to go to the polls. Voices Without Votes is at http://voiceswithoutvotes.org/ and actually, bloggers can submit their own entries direct to the site here.
