Part of the "divide and conquer" strategy used by Turkey and US State Dept to paint the Armenian nation as good guy-bad guy.

The Diasporans are painted as foreign hardliners, while local Armenians painted as "group-hug, don't worry be-happy, I don't care about the past, let's all get along, forward thinking" types.

Honestly, I do not think there is a big difference in this sense between local Armenians and Diasporans. Most are understandably wary of Turkey's Genocidal past and tendencies (we should all keep an eye on Kurdistan to see how tolerant Turkey is of self-determination of its minorities).

While certain powers would be happy to see Armenia vanish (or just become a Turkish vassal), I hope the Armenian nation maintains enough dignity and self-reliance to not buckle under the well-funded artificial la-la-land initiatives like the one reported by the Turkish and US state-dept press referenced here.
