Still, one good thing... songs from all three South Caucasus republics will be played by all of them. That's not something you can say happens every day, but it is something that I'd like to see more of in the interest of the future of this region.

I have to be honest and say that I can't even think of this year's Georgian entry. Even if Sirusho so far hasn't been able to sing live properly at least the actual recorded version is okay for a teenager-orientated pop song. Georgia's 2008 entry is just bad, however.

Then again, it's Eurovision and last year's Georgian entry from Sopho might have gotten into the finals, but not only didn't it win but it was also placed lower than the always vomit-inducing Hayko from Armenia. I suppose Georgia learned their lesson -- don't actually enter a decent song into Eurovision, it's not what the competition is actually about.

Check out the wonderful Sopho and the video as well as her live 2007 Eurovision performance -- a perfect blend of the traditional and modern complete with Georgian dance. Magnificent.
