Armenia: Levo-lution & the Environment
Seetizen decries the tendency of Armenians to rally “around whatever looks big and noisy enough.” Instead, it suggests that people put aside partisan party politics to work locally on global issues. The environment, the blog says, is one of them.
[…] I thought, what if we try to save the Earth instead, locally? For example there is a biketour to Teghut forest soon, which the Northern Avenue people could join. I heard the organizers of this biketour are not very fond of the ltp-oriented zombozition, but I don’t know how strict they are about the favorite phrases of the enthusiasts, for example in case if some from them would express a wish to shout “levon levon” when demonstrating against deforestation? I hope it is not gonna be a problem.
Meanwhile, the same blog run by a prominent veteran local youth activist comments on the latest actions by a small group of Ter-Petrossian supporters on Yerevan’s Northern Avenue. Seetizen concludes that it’s just as well their message is so subliminal.
I saw them yesterday. I think it is kind of nice that their conversation doesn’t make much sense, because if it would, then they would have attracted more attention, and it would have caused more waste of time for more people, than it is doing now. […]
