Raffi Hovannisian finally received his Armenian citizenship in 2001 which means he will be eligible to run for the presidency after 2011. However, he applied for citizenship in 1991, but both Ter-Petrossian and Kocharian refused to grant him it until the latter did ten years later.

The law says that only citizens who have permanently resided in the country for 5 years can run for parliament and 10 years for president.

Onnik, Can you clarify what Raffi H.'s status is as far as eligibility for running for President? I know he was disqualified this round (rightly or wrongly), but when would he be clearly able to run? He certainly has been very active raising his profile both internationally and nationally so it would be good for all of us to know what his real goals might be.
