Armenia: Gas Prices to Rise
PanArmenian.Net reports that gas prices are set to rise from $110 to $165 per 1,000 cubic meters until 2011. For other CIS countries, the increase set by Gazprom will occur next year and maybe even reach European levels.
The new price for Armenia will make $165 for a thousand cu. m. against current $110. The fixed price is not expected to go up during next three years. For the other CIS states, Gazprom plans gradual rise in prices up to the average European level.
Georgia already pays $270 per 1,000 cubic meters while the government in Armenia is already under attack for the price hike. However, RIA Novosti reports that the average price in Europe already exceeds $370.
