Looks like they marched on Northern Avenue after I left as well and the police moved in. Not sure if any incidents occurred, but will post tomorrow.

Well, he didn't come while I was there -- I left 30 minutes before the end, though -- although his wife did. As was to be expected, the rally was pretty much what was expected -- an opposition meeting with the wives of Alexander Arzumanian and Nikol Pashinian taking center stage for the time I was present.

However, numbers were more than the April 19 demo -- more than 2,000 and maybe as many as 3,000. Also, it would appear that the government has heeded the warning of the international community and not only was the meeting allowed, but there was no visible police presence.

Of course, there were police parked out waiting just in case off Republic Square next to the Erebuni hotel and also by the Opera, but there were no riot police or any at all at the meeting itself. Which, of course, is how it should be. Anyway, I'll post some photos later or tomorrow.

Via comments on Unzipped, it appears as though the purpose of the meeting (officially at least) is connected with "Armenia-Russia relations in case of Karabakh conflict settlement."
