Armenia: Negotiations, Political Reform Necessary

A1 Plus reports that Heritage MP Larissa Alaverdian sees the need for both the radical opposition and the government to negotiate. The former human rights ombudsperson also says there is the need to establish democratic institutions in Armenia.

It is time the authorities bore responsibility. […] When it is time to criticize the opposition I am ready to do it myself. But criticism will hardly help us make a step forward towards mutual discussions at present. […] There is no action. People are diverged, and it is regarded as hostility by both sides. The result is the lack of efficiency towards negotiations. To begin with, I can see a chance of multilateral negotiations.

Meanwhile, independent MP Victor Dallakian is quoted by Aravot as saying there is an urgent need for political reform. The opposition-leaning parliamentarian also repeats his suggestion of holding early parliamentary elections.
