Armenia: Shameful Diaspora
Unzipped expresses its concern with ethnic Armenian groups and organizations in the United States who have issued statements calling for parties to find a peaceful solution to the post-election standoff in Armenia and to refrain from violence. Noticeable by its absence, the blog explains, are calls for an independent inquiry into clashes with police on 1 March with left 8 people dead.
[…] Where is your statement about urging independent inquiry into the evidence of shooting at protesters by special police forces? Where is your condemnation of restricting civil liberties in Armenia? Where is your statement condemning massive scale political persecutions in Armenia?.. All you could see from 1 March events in Yerevan is “looting” and “vandalism”? Your subsequent words on “justice”, “freedom” and “equal opportunity” are nothing but empty statements.
