Serge Sargsyan Online Q&A
One of the most significant developments during the period from just before the 19 February presidential election until today is the use of the Internet as a political tool. Without a doubt, supporters of former president Levon Ter-Petrossian have been most aware of the power of the web as a tool, especially during the current state of emergency. Perhaps as sign that the government realizes it is losing the information war online at least, some activity from president-election Serge Sargsyan is now starting to occur.
This Thursday, March 15th at 3:00PM Yerevan time (6:00AM EST) Serge Sargsyan will be giving an interview. The questions to the newly elected Armenian president will be collected through different channels including LiveJournal.com. Special account under his name has been created at LiveJournal.com.
More information on the interview and how the questions will be collected will be published soon at that account: http://serzhsargsyan.livejournal.com/
According to the guidelines below, however, those arranging the online question and answer session prefer questions in Armenian which seems a little odd given interest in what is happening here from others. Moreover, Ter-Petrossian’s supporters pretty much control the English-speaking section of the Internet through their own hard work although I’ve heard the situation is different when it comes to Russian.
Regardless, send in your questions for this unique opportunity to ask questions of the president-elect on the 19 February vote and the state of emergency in Armenia.
IMPORTANT:
1. No censorship on the questions except for the insulting ones.
2. The questions will be answered in Armenian. So it is better to ask them in Armenian too to avoid unnecessary translation difficultes and misunderstanding.
3. Some of the questions will be answered during a TV interview with Serge Sargisyan, the answers to the most of the questions will be posted in 1-2 days.
4. No limitations on the subjects. Anyone can ask as many questions as he or she wants. Every question is promised to be answered.
5. Questions will be collected from 10.00AM March 11th to 9.00PM March 12th (Yerevan time).
6. All technical questions can be asked here: http://uzogh.livejournal.com/167658.html. Questions by Anonymous commenters are also accepted, though it is preferable to sign questions (LJ-username, OpenID are also considered as signatures).
