Ter-Petrossian: Press Conference
Unzipped reports that Ter-Petrossian has held a press conference and alleged that yesterday’s actions were an attempt to prevent the Constitutional Court from ruling in his favor. Actually, as has been mentioned on this blog, efforts to annul the results of the 19 February presidential election in Armenia through the court did concern some close to the government.
The court, for example, is presided over by a former ally of Ter-Petrossian who served as his vice-president and acting prime minister in the early 1990s. Moreover, not only was Gagik Harutyunyan appointed to his position under the former president, but he also incurred the wrath of the outgoing one in the aftermath of the 2003 presidential election.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan believes that ruling regime went for violent crackdown of opposition movement in Armenia in order to prevent very possible Constitutional Court ruling to annul Central Election Commission decision over presidential election (which grants victory to prime minister Serj Sargsyan).
