Republican, Prosperous Armenia Statement
Following reports that seven pro-government deputies had switched sides and now supported former president Levon Ter-Petrossian, E-Channel says that their signatures have materialized on a statement issued by the ruling Republican and Prosperous Armenia parties supporting the prime minister, president-elect Serge Sargsyan.
The statement, in particular, mentions:
“According to the preliminary results of the presidential elections held on February 19, Serzh Sargsyan has been elected as RA president. PACE, OSCE PS, OSCE/ODIHR observers have registered significant progress as compared to the previous elections, having stated that the past elections have been in conformity to our country’s commitments to CE and OSCE, as well as the international criteria.”
The statement has been signed by all the members of RPA and PA factions in NA, including the deputies that had announced the previous day in the Freedom Square about joining the movement headed by the opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrossian.
