CEC Confirms Serge Sargsyan Victory
E-Channel reports that the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Armenia has confirmed that the prime minister, Serge Sargsyan, has been elected as president. ArmInfo reports that following recounts in 135 precincts, Sargsyan lost 429 votes.
Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, ArmInfo also reports that former president Levon Ter-Petrossian declared himself the winner with 65 percent of the vote. It can now only be assumed that this week will prove to be decisive in the stand-off between the radical opposition and the authorities.
We have compared the protocols of Central Electoral Commission with our figures and we have seen that as many as 10,000 additional votes were given to Serzh Sargsyan in just 40 electoral districts. I lost there as many as 7,000 votes, Artur Bagdassaryan lost 5,000 votes, presidential candidate Levon Ter- Petrossyan said during the rally of his supporters at Liberty Square today.
