Recount Results Known

Mediamax reports that the prime minister’s campaign team has issued new data on results from 34 precincts where recounts were held. Despite some concern that it is not the CEC which is releasing such data, Mediamax reports that the results remain unchanged in all but one polling station.

An exception was the polling station 9/31 in Yerevan “Kentron” community, where the recount revealed falsifications in favor of Serzh Sarkisian. According to the results of recount, it turned out that 396 electors voted for Serzh Sarkisian, and not 709, as it was stated in the protocol.

As Mediamax was told in the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia, a criminal case is initiated on the fact of falsification of elections results against the members of the electoral commission of 9/31. Chairman of the commission Eduard Aghajanian is arrested.

The investigation on the case is carried out by the Special Investigatory Service of Armenia.

One pro-Ter-Petrossian blog posts the final results from PEC 9/31 which indicates that the incorrectly counted votes were mainly taken from candidates other than the former president. Sargsyan in fact polled 395 votes while Ter-Petrossian received 392. The main victim was instead ARF-D candidate Vahan Hovannisian whose initial 3 votes now stand at 120.
