Students Report Classes Cancelled
A few students report that their classes for 20 February have been canceled at some universities in the center of Yerevan. No reason has been given, but there is speculation that the move is precautionary following concerns about possible clashes the day after tomorrow’s presidential election in Armenia. Other students report that the situation is unclear at their universities.
There are also some reports that a few businesses will likely not open in the center for the same reason, but none of these reports have been officially confirmed. Indeed, A1 Plus reports that the Ministry of Education has only announced that today and tomorrow are non-working days at schools and colleges.
Under a decree of Minister of Education Levon Mkrtchian February 18th and 19th were declared non-working days in educational institutions all over Armenia.
Rectors and school headmasters have been assigned to ensure favourable conditions for ordinary routine of precincts located inside the institutions.
