   ELECTION CENTERS OF RESPUBLICAN PARTY DAMAGED

   The Armenian police inform that today at 11:00, an unknown person has set on fire the door of Serzh Sargsyan’s election center at 12 Azatutiun Avenue of Yerevan causing considerable damage. A criminal case is instituted against the cased based on point 1, item 2 of article 185 at Kanaker-Zeitun investigation department. Expert tests are taken at the place of the incidents. Details are clarified.

   On February 10, at 11:40, Varazdat Petrosyan applied to Malatia department of the Armenian police and said that a explosive glass pot was thrown from the window of Republican party election office in the period of February 9, 21:00 to February 10, 09:30. The election center is at Haghtanak village, 6th street 31 address and is the property of Petrosyan.

   SERZH SARGSYAN’S HEADQUARTERS IN YEREVAN HAVE BEEN PUT TO FIRE, IN MARTUNI, LEAFLETS WITH SWEAR-WORDS WERE POSTED ON THE WALLS

   On February 11, at around 11:00, a stranger has burnt the door of presidential candidate, Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan’s headquarters at Azatutyan 12 in Yerevan.

   In relation with the fact, on the same day, the investigatory department of Kanaker-Zeytun police has prosecuted a criminal action, based on the 1st point, 2nd part of the article 185 of the RA criminal code (willful destruction or spoilage of property by arson, explosion or other publicly dangerous method.)

   A similar incident has been registered at other headquarters of the prime minister/candidate. As informed by the prosecutor’s office, on February 10, at 11:40 Varazdat Petrossian applied to Malatia police, notifying that, in the period between February 9, 21:10 to February 10, 09:30, the glasses of the Republican party headquarters in Haghtanak village (belonging to him based on the property rights) had been broken and a bottle with fuel had been thrown inside, as a result of which the club chair and a cardboard box had been burnt down.

   The prosecutor’s office has also disseminated a statement on “the leaflets with swear-words” addressed to Serzh Sargsyan, posted on the walls in Martuni.

   “On February 11, 2008, at around 10:00, a stranger rudely violated the public order and expressed an apparent disrespectful attitude towards the society, posting leaflets, containing swear-words addressed to presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan and a number of Martuni-based officials, on the walls in Martuni,” the statement says.

   In relation with the incident, the investigatory department of Martuni police has instituted criminal proceedings, based on the characteristics of the 1st part, 258th article of the RA criminal code (hooliganism.)
