Telling It How It Is

Unfortunately, this conclusion translated and published by RFE/RL’s Press Review seems to reflect most people’s views on the presidential election in Armenia so far. The situation is slowly changing, but not by nearly enough to change the reality.

That is, such a situation favors the incumbent authorities more than the opposition. Instead of an alternative, it’s just seen by many as the same by another name.

“Azg” say that in their increasingly bitter electoral struggle Serzh Sarkisian and Levon Ter-Petrosian are “displaying a highly deep disregard for the people.” The paper says their mutual attacks and threats are irrelevant to day-to-day problems of most ordinary Armenians.
