ULP Supports Serge Sargsyan
E-Channel reports that Gurgen Arsenian’s United Labor Party (ULP) has voted to support the candidacy of the prime minister, Serge Sargsyan, in the 19 February presidential election in Armenia. The ULP attracted 4.4 percent or 59,271 votes in last year’s parliamentary election although opposition activists allege that vote bribes were just one tactic the party used.
About 200 delegates of the party voted to make a decision who to vote for at the coming presidential elections. As a result of voting, most delegates preferred to support the nomination of Serzh Sargsyan. 124 out of the 200 delegates have voted for Serzh Sargsyan, 47 – for Levon Ter-Petrossian, 14 – for Vazgen Manukyan, 5 – for Arthur Baghdasaryan, and 2 – for Vahan Hovhannisyan.
