Incidentally, there is no mention of any high-ranking officials being present at last year's St. Vardanants Day.

BTW: On MIAK, it has to be said that their campaigning is of concern. Well, not the campaigning itself which is fine for a democratic country, but the way in which it's being done. For example, while they were campaigning before the official pre-election campaign period began, so too were Ter-Petrossian's people and Dashnaks etc without the necessary printing information provided.

Okay, so a gray area in the electoral code or an ambiguity or omission or whatever. However, now the pre-election campaign is underway, and as MIAK is a political party, it's still using the same materials and as such during this period it's a violation of the electoral code. Well, there's plenty of such violations, I suppose, so it's not like this is some huge revelation.

However, what I don't like about MIAK more than anything is how secretive they are. During and after the parliamentary election last year I attended their Friday night gatherings -- the MIAK/BAA whisky thing -- to speak to its member and to get an idea of what they're all about. Now, however, they refuse to give out information at all.

I've requested information on where MIAK will be campaigning for Serge a number of times, but I'm never answered. Moreover, their new official head, Samvel Farmanyan (formerly press person for Orinats Yerkir who left the party after the NA election) is unreachable to me despite being quite accessible last year.

Requests for a MIAK member I know to pass on my number have been met with silence from Farmanyan and when I asked yesterday for his number -- a pretty normal request from an accredited journalist, I think -- I was told that he wouldn't want me to have it. Not good. Not good at all. Anyway.

Everything is so over-staged in Serj’s campaign, just laughable. It reminds me communist era, with all those ‘pioneers’… But what I cannot stand the most is church’s involvement in politics. And then they will go on preaching about spiritual values… Shame, really…
