More Election-Related Hooliganism in Vanadzor
Although not quite as serious as the ransacking of an Orinats Yerkir party office in Vanadzor, but a violation of the electoral code nonetheless and a tactic that Armenia can well do without, E-Channel reports that hooliganism continues in Armenia’s third largest city.
Yesterday morning posters promoting the candidacy of Levon Ter-Petrossian were torn and some were defaced with swastikas and insults. E-Channel also reports that the campaign posters for the prime minister, Serge Sargsyan, are also being defaced in much the same way.
Serzh Sargsyan’s Vanadzor office does not blame Ter-Petrossian’s supporters for the torn and spoilt posters. Samvel Khalatyan, the organizer of the RPA regional organization in Lori, considers the picture-spoilers to be hooligans. He thinks that it is being done by young people supporting certain candidates. However, nobody knows for sure about their activities in the team of the candidate.
Khalatyan says that Aram Kocharyan, the head of the RPA regional headquarters in Lori, the head of Lori administration, has called the young members of the party, strictly warning them to stay aloof from such phenomena.
