Intimidation of Orinats Yerkir in Vanadzor

E-Channel has more on last week’s ransacking of an Orinats Yerkir party office in Armenia’s third largest city of Vanadzor. The online publication considers the attack on the office of the party, whose leader, Artur Baghdasarian, is running for next month’s presidential election, an act of intimidation.

The CofL Vanadzor office has applied to the Vanadzor police. The police have already explored the venue. Materials are being prepared for pursuing a criminal action. Although Khachik Harutyunyan, the head of the office, does not accuse anyone but he connects the incident with their activities in campaigning. […]

[…] Yesterday CofL had to close the Bazum district headquarters in Vanadzor. “We had rented one of the apartments. Then the owner called to say he could not rent it out.” The owner of the apartment has explained that he had been called and told to get his apartment back. […]

“Our activists are being intimidated,” the CofL Vanadzor office continues.

They have been getting phone calls from strangers that have been demanding them not to work for CofL, instead suggesting them to work for another party but Harutyunyan does not know which one.

Strangers have also torn and burnt the poster of Arthur Baghdasaryan from the wall of one of the buildings in Dimats district in Vanadzor, “They have done it in the daytime, can you imagine?”
