Ter-Petrossian’s Rally
The Armenian Patchwork posts an account and photographs from yesterday’s rally and unauthorized march in central Yerevan by former president, Levon Ter-Petrossian.
While billboards advertising the candidacy of the prime minister, Serge Sargsyan, are now starting to appear everywhere, the rally was the only visible presence of other candidates contesting the 19 February vote.
The blog notes that most of those who attended the rally and march came from the regions of Armenia. Moreover, supporters of both Sargsyan and Ter-Petrosian now seem hard to find in the Armenian capital.
I personally know only one supporter of Ter-Petrosyan. But possibly I should do a better job at asking people around. Because, if I know one supporter of Ter-Petrosyan, of Serge Sargysan’s I know none. And that’s pretty sad considering that he’s the main presidential candidate. I should say that it isn’t a matter of the age of people I ask, I try to ask different people. The supporters of these two candidates seem so distant.
