Other Election News
Although you might not know it given the focus of most online news outlets on former president Levon Ter Petrosian, there are actually other candidates running for next month’s election. RFE/RL reports that one is the prime minister and favorite to win, Serge Sargsyan, for example.
Prime Minister Serzh Sarkisian kicked off his election campaign with a trip to the southern Vayots Dzor region on Tuesday, saying that Armenians will see their living standards improve dramatically if they pick him as their next president.
Meeting with local residents, Sarkisian pledged to help double household incomes in the country within five years in the event of his victory in next month’s presidential election.
Another is Dashnaktsutyun’s Vahan Hovannisian who visited Armavir. “A president representing Dashnaktsutyun would really be your president,” RFE/RL quotes him as saying. This blog hopes to have extensive coverage of campaigns by both candidates in the near future.
