Sksela Reveals Its Hand
Despite being largely inactive since last year’s parliamentary election, the Sksela youth movement plans to hold a celebration of Barekendan on 3 February 2008. There’s no doubt that with the presidential election scheduled for 19 February, the timing of the event by the group which appears to model itself on revolutionary youth movements in Serbia, Ukraine and Georgia is interesting.
At least two of the group’s main founders are directly linked to former president Levon Ter-Petrosian, although it would also be interesting to discover whether the event is once again financed by the British Embassy in Yerevan, as was the case with last year’s Barekendan, or as part of CRD/TI-Armenia election activities. Either way, Sksela’s activities must now be raising some eyebrows.
Bekaisa, one of Sksela’s founders and part of Levon Ter-Petrossian’s campaign team, posts details.
