Nazarian, it would appear that the incident you refer to happened on the 23rd during the clash between Pashinian's people and the police. It doesn't appear to have happened at or after the LTP rally. Haven't seen any news report saying something happened.

It's sad that the state TV propaganda is so effective. I wonder how people can be so gullible. I guess if you are fed the same garage day in and day out, you start believing it. The same thing is here with the Bush propaganda in the mass media.

Interestingly, my local pro-Republican party businessman who runs my local shop again called me over, but this time to tell me, "Onnik, you're right. Levon is no good."

Well, firstly, I never told him that although I did question whether the return of someone from the past is good for the future. Anyway, I asked him why.

"He saying stupid things," the man said. "You were at the meeting on Friday," I asked. "No," he said, "but Serzh is okay. There is no alternative to him."

Well, I was in a rush to get down to the center to meet a friend so didn't have time to continue the conversation or to ask what he heard and where his information was coming from, but it did highlight the need for media exposure in Armenia.

Of course, anti-Levon propaganda on the TV is more likely than objective coverage at least until the OSCE open up shop again to monitor the media for the election. However, that won't be for a few months now.

Still, it also indicates another reality. That is, that some people really do want to make up their minds about who to vote for and so, in that sense, this election might also mark an interesting precedent.

On the other hand, as highlighted by the post from Artmika at Unzipped posted above, there's just one danger. The battle between Levon and Serzh might be very fierce indeed.

Moreover, as Ter Petrosian's main supporters are the same guys -- Pashinian and Sarkisian -- who wanted revolution after the 12 May parliamentary election event hough they had no support of note in society, what will they do if they lose next year?

Will they concede defeat if the international community registers similar albeit small progress in the conduct of the election? Isn't that democracy also?
