Incidentally, regarding the Armenian Revolutionary Federation -- Dashnaktsutyun, and I suppose other political parties given the restriction on dual citizenship being lifted, I wonder if the Law on Political Parties will have to be amended.

Article 3: The Concept of a Party

1. The party is a public union formed on the basis of individual membership of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the aim of the activity of which is to participate in the political life of the society and the state.

[...]

3. A union shall not be recognized as a party, if its Charter:

1) allows membership of foreign citizens, citizens lacking citizenship, with the exception of cases envisaged by this Law, as well as membership of foreign and international organizations;

Well, that's an excellent point. Legally, Embassies are considered to be the sovereign territory of the countries they represent so I wonder if a case can be made that way. As you say, voting in an Armenian Embassy abroad could be considered to be actually voting on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Point well made and taken, and one that could theoretically be taken to the normal and constitutional courts. Thanks.

While I do not think Armenia is ready yet for 'authorised', email or postal voting (and recent examples during the elections in the UK proved that these systems have many flaws which could be abused even in case of established democracies like in Britain), I believe that the old system of voting in the embassies is the only sound, practical solution in current circumstances and shoud be re-introduced. Indeed, as rightly pointed out by many lawyers, journalists and citizens, Armenian embassies are considered Armenian territory!

I hope that reasonable people in our political scene will acknowledge their mistake and deprived voting rights of Armenian citizens will be re-introduced.
